July 1st, 2005 marks two years since we launched Expressions, and we're celebrating this with the announcement of Expressions 3.0! Our planned launch date for v3 is Friday, July 8th (a week from this post). As part of this launch we will be expanding on the hardware side to help support our growing community and, because of this, there will be a short downtime as we move data to the new servers. We're hoping the downtime will be about an hour for most folks - the move will only take a few minutes but it will take at least an hour for DNS to propagate around the world. We will start the transition at 0900 GMT (5 AM Eastern Daylight Time, 10 AM British/European Summer Time), which is our lowest traffic time.
Our incredible community has given us plenty of great suggestions and we have implemented all the ones we could (and have a few that we couldn't, already on the 3.1 development list). We can't wait to show off all the new goods but we're waiting for the launch to issue a proper press release. I can tell you that, as part of the new version, we will be re-branding our web site and the Expressions interface. The web site had to be restructured anyway to accommodate one of our new community features (*cough* tags *cough*).
So, mark your calendars, because we'll be releasing Expressions 3.0 in a week!
