Interview: nissou*

Anissa of nissou* is from Belgium and has a refreshing style to her photography. Her images are not only beautiful to behold, but are so often uplifting for the spirit. Without fail, her photos can make you truly smile. The duality of photos and text often sets a really strong mood, and many of her photos can make you giggle with pleasure (see Duck Invasion and you'll see what I mean).

Big Blue

Tell us a little about yourself
I'm 24 years old and I'm living in Brussels. As I'm working all day long in an office, I always take advantage of my free time to escape the routine. The best way is for me to go outside with my camera and enjoy taking pictures. Photography is my true passion which makes me want to discover new places and meet new people. Having my camera in my hands pushes my imagination further and I will never be bored with it.

Happy Moment

When did you get interested in photography?
I started to be interested in photography when I was 18 years old. I found an old analogic rebel in my attic and the passion then started. I attended a course to learn how to develop pictures by myself. I also had the opportunity to have my own dark room in my parent's house. I bought a digital rebel about one year ago and I'm learning a lot with it. What I like in photography is to capture small moments of everyday life. it can be a small detail which means something or a feeling that I want to express. But people are my favorite subject. I'm not always at my ease with landscapes or architectural views. I prefer to meet people and have interactions with them.
In the future, I would like to improve doing portraits. My biggest satisfaction is when I succeed to make a portrait which please to the person photographed.

Colour Your Life

When and, more importantly, why did you start photoblogging?
I was used to visit a lot of photoblogs and I then decided to challenged myself by creating my own one. Therefore I started my blog in February '07 with the concept of one photo a day. it gives me even more motivation to take pictures and to improve my skills in photography. One other motivation to create this blog was that I just want to share my pictures and see what people think. as from now, I have really enjoyed this experience and I want to go on. I like the contacts with other photobloggers and to have their feedbacks. I'm always surprised by the positive comments they can give :)

Can you describe the style of your photoblog?
I was searching something really simple but with a fresh style at the same time. I wanted to give my personal touch in the layout, the presentation is very important for me. I like to play with colours and texts. but I don't play the game to post a picture I took on the same day. I just select my best pictures and post them depending of my mood. I don't follow any chronological order, this is just the picture I felt appropriated for the day :)

Discovery

What camera(s) do you use?
I'm using a nikon d50. I'm not at all interested in all technical stuff, even if I know it's an important part of the photography. I'm just trying to learn by myself and capture moments I like.
